This musical, which received rave reviews on its Broadway run, is based on the movie classic that runs round-the-clock on television every Christmas. Set in the 1940s in the fictional town of Hohman, Indiana, the musical follows 9-year-old Ralphie Parker and his quest for the Holy Grail of Christmas gifts—an Official Red Ryder carbine-action 200-shot Range Model air rifle. Rebuffed at every turn with a similar echoing response, Ralphie plots numerous schemes to achieve his desperate desire for the coveted BB gun. All the iconic scenes from the movie are here: Ralphie's friend, Flick, getting his tongue stuck to the flagpole; his brother, Randy, getting dressed in his snowsuit; the bullies, Farkus and Dill; the leg lamp award; the bunny suit; Christmas dinner; and many others. The delightfully versatile score ranges from gentle ballads to show-stopping full-ensemble numbers such as "Ralphie to the Rescue!", "A Major Award," "Sticky Situation," "Up on Santa's Lap," "Somewhere Hovering Over Indiana" and the inevitable "You'll Shoot Your Eye Out!" A Christmas Story, The Musical will bring an exciting new dimension to those who have seen the movie and will certainly stand on its own for those who haven't. 

Audition Process:

1. Sign-up for a time-slot.

2. Complete the Audition Form.

If you have a headshot and resume, we will ask you to upload it when completing the Audition Form. You will also need to provide your conflicts in the form; conflicts will be taken into account when casting.

Auditioners should prepare a 1-minute cut of a song similar style to the show. Dress comfortably for the dance call.

Child and Youth Safety Information:

Every cast and crew member who is 18 or older will need to undergo a 1-hour virtual training on our Child and Your Safety Policies and a background check.

Rehearsals:

Rehearsals will be Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, (or 6:30-9:30 depending on cast and crew available) and Sundays 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, beginning Tuesday, September 22, 2026.

Not all actors will necessarily be called for every rehearsal, and occasional days may be added, depending on availability.

Tech week is Sunday, November 28, 2026 through Thursday, December 3, 2026.

Shows are December 3-19, 2026, Friday & Saturday evenings at 7:30, and Sunday at 2:00 PM.

No conflicts tech week or show dates.

Roles:

All roles are non-Equity; no pay, no fee. All roles are open to any ethnicity. We invite actors of any gender expression to audition.

• Ralphie Parker: Age 9 (to play 9 going on 10). A bright, imaginative, and regular kid next door who desperately wants an Official Red Ryder Carbine-Action 200-shot Range Model Air Rifle. Vocal range: [Alto].

• Jean Shepherd / Narrator: Late 40s to early 50s. The charismatic radio personality and older adult Ralphie who guides the audience through the nostalgic story. Vocal range: Spoken / Narrator.

• The Old Man: Late 30s to 40s. Ralphie and Randy's gruff, swearing, basement-tinkering father who has a good heart hidden under a tough exterior. Vocal range: [Baritone].

• Mother: 30s to 40s. The warm, tough, and practical glue who keeps the Parker household functioning. Vocal range: [Mezzo-Soprano].

• Randy: Age 6 to 8. Ralphie's younger, slightly offbeat brother who looks up to Ralphie.

• Miss Shields: Mid-20s to 40s. Ralphie's demanding yet theatrical elementary school teacher who features in big fantasy musical numbers. Vocal range: [Alto] / Soprano.

• Flick: Age 9 to 12. Ralphie's friend who famously accepts a bet to stick his tongue to a freezing flagpole.

• Schwartz: Age 9 to 12. Ralphie's loyal friend who dares Flick into the flagpole mishap.

• Scut Farkus: Age 12 to 14 (shorter or taller depending on staging, classically 5 feet or under). The terrifying yellow-eyed neighborhood bully.

• Grover Dill: Younger/smaller. Scut Farkus's menacing, giggling little sidekick.

• Esther Jane & Mary Beth: Ralphie's classmates, with Esther Jane serving as Ralphie's innocent elementary school crush.
